South Pennine Boat Club

South Pennine Boat Club

South Pennine Boat Club provides its members with non-residential moorings and first class facilities for boating, recreation and social activities.

The Club is managed entirely by members to create a friendly meeting place for all people sharing a common interest in Britain's waterways.

SPBC welcomes boaters

South Pennine Boat Club was developed from a once derelict site into the current pleasant environment with a clubhouse, covered dry dock and moorings for around fifty boats. We are members of the Association of Waterways Cruising Clubs and visiting boaters from other clubs are always assured of a warm welcome. There is a varied programme of events from impromptu barbeques to boat rallies.

About Us

South Pennine Boat Club exists to provide members with all the facilities required to enjoy canal boating.

The present day site offers non-residential moorings for around fifty boats with electric posts, a covered dry-dock with associated equipment, jet-wash, mig-welder, workshop area etc., a sanitary station with elsan disposal and pump-out, diesel and diesel polishing and a whole range of small hand tools.

The jewel in the crown is the magnificent Club-house, which offers space for meetings and socials, with the occasional bar. We organise a full programme of varied social events from September to April each year.

Nearly all work on site is done by the members which helps keep fees low. In order to keep fees low, all members should be willing to participate in the upkeep of the Club and its premises. Members who contribute are given priority for moorings and dry dock bookings in particular.

Whilst we welcome new members, it should be borne in mind that, anyone considering applying should be willing to contribute. Anyone who is unable to contribute may find a private marina more suited to their needs.
